We are seeking experienced freelance interpreters in the Philadelphia area to support medical interpretation assignments between English and the following languages:

• Spanish ↔ English

• Vietnamese ↔ English

• Bengali ↔ English

Assignments will primarily take place in healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, medical offices, and other patient-care environments. 

What you’ll do

• Provide accurate, complete, and impartial interpretation between patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

• Interpret medical information clearly while preserving meaning, tone, and intent.

• Follow professional standards for confidentiality, ethics, and cultural sensitivity.

• Arrive on time, prepared, and professionally dressed for scheduled assignments.

• Maintain appropriate boundaries and comply with all client-site and healthcare privacy requirements.

Qualifications

• Professional fluency in English and at least one of the following: Spanish, Vietnamese, or Bengali.

• Prior medical interpreting experience required.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare communication.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret accurately in high-pressure or sensitive situations.

• Reliable transportation and availability for assignments throughout the Philadelphia area.

Preferred qualifications

• Completion of a minimum 40-hour medical interpreter training program is a plus.

• Experience interpreting in hospitals, emergency departments, specialty clinics, behavioral health, or other medical settings.

• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare confidentiality standards.

Engagement details

This is a freelance/independent contractor opportunity. Assignment volume, location, duration, and scheduling will vary based on client demand and interpreter availability.
